Breaking generational agreements with false beliefs and reclaiming the truth of God’s Word.

Week Three: Good Luck, Bad Theology

Welcome to Week Three of our No Luck, All God series. We are halfway through this journey of truth, and with every step, God is peeling back another layer of what we inherited or  what we repeated.

Last week, we exposed knock on wood for what it really was. It may seem harmless, but it’s actually a false protection disguised as tradition.

This week, we are calling out something even more common, something deeply woven into everyday conversations: luck.

  • Good luck

  • Wish me luck

  • Cross your fingers

We’ve all heard these phrases, and most of us have said them without a second thought.

Yep, I’m guilty too.

But have you ever paused long enough to ask,

What am I actually invoking?

Because luck may sound innocent, but in the Kingdom of God, luck is not a language He speaks.

Where Did Luck Come From

As the Lord began opening my eyes on this journey, new questions started to rise up within me. One question in particular stayed with me:

Where did luck come from?

So I started searching. I began digging into the origins, reading through different sources, and one thing became clear, luck is rooted in happenstance. And that alone goes against every characteristic of Christ.

Friend, everything has roots. This is not said to scare you, but to open your eyes.

The phrase good luck didn’t just appear out of nowhere. Its roots trace back to ancient systems of fortune telling, belief in fate, and most specifically, to the Roman goddess of luck named Fortuna.

She was worshiped as the one who controlled destiny, granted fortune, and spun the wheel of chance in favor of some and against others. And generations later, her influence still lingers not in statues or shrines, but in words and beliefs that elevate chance above covenant.

Luck is not neutral.

It is a false system of belief.

It glorifies chance instead of choosing God.

What We Say Matters

When we say things like:

 • Good luck on your interview

Fingers crossed

Wish me luck

We may not mean harm, but words carry agreement.

And when we casually invite luck, we are unknowingly opening the door to the spirit behind it, a spirit that thrives on uncertainty, gambling, omens, and divination.

It is the same spirit behind:

• Horoscopes

• Lucky charms

• Gambling addictions

• Superstitious habits

• Obsessions with signs and coincidences

It is not cute!!!

It is not random!!!

It is strategic deception!!!

And it is time we stop being passive. It is time to use the authority the Lord has given us.It is time to stand in the dominion we already carry.

The Word Makes It Clear

Proverbs 16 verse 33 says:

“The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord.”

God never leaves the results to chance.

Now let’s be clear… this does not mean, “Oh, the Lord is in control, whatever happens will happen. Let me just mind my business and let God do what He’s going to do.”

No. No. No.

That is a lie from the enemy meant to keep you passive.

Yes, the Lord is sovereign. That means He is all powerful, all knowing, and fully in control of the outcome. But He is not controlling. He has given us free will.He has given us the right to choose. So no, things don’t just happen.

We are invited into partnership. We are given the opportunity to align with His will so that Heaven’s agenda can be fulfilled on earth as it is in Heaven (Matthew 6 verse 10).

So ask yourself:

What is God asking you to partner with Him on in this season of your life?

The world says things happen by chance.

The Kingdom says it's divine alignment.

As believers:

• We don’t sit around hoping luck is on our side, we trust that God is ordering our steps (Psalm 37 verse 23).

• We don’t cross our fingers → we bow our knees.

• We don’t rely on chance → we walk by faith (2 Corinthians 5 verse 7).

• We don’t wish → we pray.

Because the steps of a righteous one are not lucky → they’re led. Period.

Let’s Declare the Word

This week, we’re breaking every casual agreement we made with chance. We are rejecting luck. We are choosing trust. We are anchoring our lives in the sovereignty of God.

Prayer Declaration

Father, thank You for loving me. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Thank You for grace.I ask you for forgiveness for every time I allowed culture to influence my behavior. Thank You for opening my eyes to Your truth.

Forgive me for every time I said “good luck,” when I should have spoken faith.I come out of agreement with every system that glorifies fortune or fate.I break ties with every spirit of divination, superstition, and false guidance.

You alone are the author of my days.I believe Your Word is true.I choose You.Wash me by the blood of Jesus.Create in me a clean heart, Lord.

Holy Spirit, strengthen me to stand firm in what You have revealed, even when others reject it. Help me to lead others into Your light of truth as we expose the counterfeit lies of the enemy.

I love You, Lord.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I believe in you. I am praying for you and with you.

If you have a prayer request and would like me to touch and agree with you,

Until then, I’ll talk to you next week. Next week, we’re exposing yet another phrase that has crept into Christian culture and twisted trust into a ritual.

You don’t want to miss it.
