Check In With Heaven Before You Start the Day

Have you ever started your shift at work without clocking in?

You may have been in the building, doing the work, and staying busy throughout your shift, but if you never clocked in, there would be no record that you had officially started.

And most of us would not be okay with that because nobody wants to work without being properly checked in.

What if we approached our spiritual lives the same way?

Have we been stepping into the day without checking in with heaven first?

We get up, check our phones, think about what needs to be done, and step into the day. Before we ask God for direction, the day is already asking for our attention.

Sometimes we are awake physically, but not alert spiritually.

We can move through our routine, make decisions, respond to people, and face situations without first asking God to lead us. We can be present in the day, busy in the day, and responsible in the day, but still not checked in with heaven concerning the assignment of the day.

But the Lord already knows what the day will hold. He knows what we will face, where we will need wisdom, when we need to be quiet and not respond, which rooms we need to be in, and where we do not need to be.

So why not check in with Him first?

Jeremiah 33:3 says:

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

There is more God wants to show us, but we have to call on Him.

This is an invitation.

An invitation to pause before the demands of the day take over.

An invitation to ask the Holy Spirit for direction.

An invitation to come into agreement with heaven’s will before we come into agreement with the pressure of the day.

Prayer Gives Us Discernment

Prayer helps us walk into the day with wisdom and spiritual awareness. It does not mean we will never face opposition. Jesus already told us that in this world we will have trouble. But prayer gives us access to heaven’s instructions.

It helps us stop guessing our way through the day.

John 16:13 NIV says:

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own. He will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

We have access to the Holy Spirit, and He knows what is ahead.

That means we do not have to let distractions, routine, or pressure become the loudest voice in the room.

  • What is the Lord asking you to do first in this season of your life?

  • What is today’s assignment from heaven?

Have you clocked in, or are you just going through the motions?

Call to Action for Today

If you are reading this in the middle of your day, take a moment to pause and ask the Lord for His heart concerning this topic.

What does it mean for you? Heaven is speaking. The Lord wants to partner with you.

Take a few moments to check in.

Do not just ask God to bless your plans. Ask Him for His plans.

Ask Him for the assignment of the day. Ask Him for discernment. Ask Him to make you sensitive to His voice and alert to what He wants you to see.

Write down what He brings to your heart. It may be a Scripture, a name, an instruction, a warning, or a reminder.

Then walk into the day with this truth:

I am not guessing my way through today. I have checked in with heaven, and I am walking with the One who knows what is ahead.

Friend, take these questions back to prayer. He will meet you there. I know He will. I asked Him to.

Prayer

Lord, open my eyes to see what You are trying to reveal to me. Holy Spirit, show me what it means to partner with heaven in this season of my life. Help me to do the hard things. Lord, give me clarity and divine insight as I lean not on my own understanding. I choose Your path, Lord.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

I am excited to hear the good news! Share your testimonies. It will help increase someone’s faith.
